3X Optical Zoom

Genuine Canon 3x Optical Zoom on the IXUS 85 IS lets you get in close and clear.

Optical Image Stabilizer

The optical Image Stabilizer technology on the Canon IXUS 85IS reduces the effect of shake when holidng the camera that can otherwise cause blurry photographs. The camera adjusts its lens up to 4000 times per second to reduce the blur. This features is especially useful at full zoom and in low light settings (because the shutter must stay open longer, increasing the chances of blur).

Motion Detection Technology

The IXUS 85 IS features Canon’s Motion Detection Technology. This detects camera and subject relative motion and adjusts the exposure to a suitable setting. The brightness of the background and subject and Face Detection and camera shake are all taken into account to select the appropriate ISO level to take a shot with the minimum noise and zero blur.

Face Detection Technology

The IXUS 85 IS cleverley detects faces within a shot (Face Detection Technology) and then sets the appropriate focus, flash level and exposure.

Red Eye Correction

Red eye (reflection of the flash on the back of the eye, causing subject to appear as though they have red eyes) is now automatically corrected by the IXUS 85 IS to keep your subjects looking natural even in flash photographs.

2.5" LCD Screen

Frame your shots accurately with a clear and bright 2.5 inch LCD screen on the rear of the IXUS 85 IS. This is a high resolution screen with a scratch resistant and anti-reflective coating. Being able to see the screen clearly in all conditions makes using the camera a joy.

Sunset Scene Mode

A special mode specifically for shooting sunset scenes enables the IXUS 85 IS to capture stunning sunset scenes with the correct exposure and white balance.

30 FPS VGA Movies

Shooting movies with the cheapest IXUS 85 IS camera is a breeze, with a 30 frames per second (FPS) mode.

Optical Viewfinder

If you need to keep your IXUS 85 IS camera running for even longer, you can turn off the LCD screen and use the optical viewfinder instead (just like an old fashioned camera!). You'll still need to use the LCD monitor for macro close-ups since the viewfinder is slightly off-centre.

iSAPS

iSAPS on the IXUS 85 IS is like having your own photographic technician. It determines optimal settings for each image before the shot is taken. The scene is analysed using PhotoSpace, an in-built library of photographic data about the way people take pictures. It then controls the exposure, focus and white balance to ensure you get the best from every shot.
